Alpha 0.7


Alpha 0.7 was focused on  improving the Defense system to improve some of the problems it had but this update also has several smaller improvements to various other systems. 

The Defense system has been overhauled. Now defense is converted to laser charges which can be used to attack an enemy rather than using defense directly and all shots must be used to end the turn unless there are no valid targets. New enemies now appear in the left most slot of the local threats and push existing enemies over. If an enemy is pushed out then it disappears and generates some Crisis points. Additionally, which enemies can appear is no longer determined based on how many major threats you have beaten but by the number of turns that have passed so that things will progress even if the system is ignored or trailing behind the others. Upon beating a major threat you earn a reward as usual but now also gain a choice of weapon upgrade which can improve the laser cannon in different ways. Enemy ships have also been adjusted in various ways to fit the system changes.

Changes:

  • A major overhaul of how the Defense System works. See above for more details.
  • New weapon upgrades earned from defeating major threats.
  • Defense wonder now grants a bonus weapon upgrade, allowing selection of a second upgrade in one of the tiers. 
  • Laser cannon design now changes with the current number of upgrades earned.
  • Added a couple new music tracks.
  • Added 2 new enemy ships - Repair ship and Shield ship.
  • Now when max planets are selected and you try to select another it will swap the oldest selection for the new one instead of just throwing up a warning.
  • Made some adjustments to existing Exploration events and added a couple new ones.
  • New panel design for when a secret of the universe is found and added theming for each exploration region.
  • Changed visuals when building a building to have it drop into the slot instead of flying down from the Production system.
  • Improvements to Production system design
  • Improvements to unlocked tech panel design.
  • Planets are now a bit larger and aligned better. 
  • New planet effect: Planet doesn't discard until played.
  • Added a list of icons and descriptions for them to the pause menu
  • Reduced the bonus random points from unused resources to give half as much.
  • When a building is destroyed by an Orbital Laser it now becomes a Depleted Building that can be built over. 
  • Depleted buildings now state in the red star marker's tooltip which building it used to be. 

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the first exploration region stated there were fewer events there than there actually were.
  • Fixed an issue where Tactical Systems tech was not showing the defense symbol properly.
  • Fixed an issue where some bonuses weren't being cleared between games.
  • Fixed an issue where the cannon would stop following the mouse when hovering over an enemy.
  • Fixed some enemy text overflowing.
  • Adjusted text on Destroyer to make it clearer that it targets produced points rather than stored points.
